This paper describes the development of the hardware-software configuration required for a computerized digitizer-graphics system for encoding locational information at the University of Iowa's Department of Geography and Institute of Urban and Regional Research. Topics covered include system requirements, data structure, hardware configurations, and the development of software to interface the digitizer and an IMLAC PDS-4 minicomputer with a host HP-2000 computer. Problem areas are identified in user documentation, operating efficiency, system support, budgetary, testing, and transportability. (RAO)
