Although this report is several years old, it explores test development in another country, specifically the Netherlands, using American-developed and normed-instruments. The development of vocational maturity tests and the adaptation of Crites' Vocational Developmental Inventory (VDI), Super's Career Development Inventory (CDI) and Westbrook's Cognitive Vocational Maturity Test (CVMT) for use with Dutch students is described. The following areas of concern are addressed: (1) the untranslatability of some test items due to different school situations; (2) identification of the appropriate Dutch population with which to use the tests; (3) problems with internal consistency; and (4) distinctions between the measurement of vocational attitudes and testing of occupational information.
