Conceptualization of Information Equity Issues in Education.

This special study for the Educational Dissemination Systems Support Program (EDSSP) contributes to the conceptualization of information equity in education and provides data bearing on equitable provision of information and equitable opportunity to obtain information. Substantively, the conceptualization is illuminated by two exploratory studies of data bearing on Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) database coverage and on geographical distribution of information programs. Methodologically, the report demonstrates ways to develop and analyze statistical indicators of educational knowledge production, dissemination, and utilization. Data tables and figures are provided, as well as appendices on the methodology of the ERIC database analysis and the frequencies and percentage of variables used in the analysis. (Author/JD)
