The National Center for Career Education (NCCE) received a U.S. Office of Education grant to operate the Career Education Information, Training, and Instructional Materials Systems (CEITAIMS). CEITAIMS' 1976-77 proposal objective was to assist career education practitioners nationwide by facilitating the flow of career education materials and resources. Many educators and lay persons have supported and utilized NCCE's services. NCCE pursued two major project activities: (1) operation of an Affiliate Center at the University of Montana and (2) participation in nationally significant activities. The Montana Center was a prototype to test the feasibility of the affiliate center concept. From the Center, over 5,500 educators and lay people were informed about NCCE and its career education work. The Center assisted practitioners through (1) training, (2) identification of appropriate instructional materials, and (3) national communication of career education implementation strategies and practices. The Center provided training assistance (18,162 formal training hours) to school districts, colleges and universities, businesses, and other groups in fifteen states. Identification assistance was made possible through NCCE's instructional materials collection and computer search processes. NCCE's nationally significant activities were those conducted in states other than Montana. Acquiring career education materials from all states falls into this category as does generating computer services to people nationwide. (Appendixes contain project-related materials.) (CSS)
