Middle School/Junior High School Evaluative Criteria. A Guide for School Improvement. Revised Edition.
Manlove, Donald C., Ed.
Guidelines for self evaluation by middle schools and junior high schools and by visiting committees are outlined in this publication. The guide is divided into 12 sections. The first is the manual, which provides recommendations for implementation and follow-up of the evaluation procedure. The remaining parts consist of guiding principles, forms, and questionnaires to be used in supplying the 11 evaluative criteria: (1) school and community; (2) philsophy and goals; (3) major educational priorities; (4) curriculum design; (5) learning areas; (6) individual faculty data; (7) school staff and administration; (8) student activities program; (9) learning media services; (10) student personnel services; and (11) school plant and facilities. The evaluation program is divided into three parts: the self evaluation performed by the school's faculty over a minimum of one year; an evaluation by a visiting committee during at least a three-day period; and the follow-up study of recommendations and implementation of those found acceptable.
