This manual provides information on the recruitment, selection and training of foster parents. Part I stresses methods for effectively recruiting and screening foster parents including: defining foster parent roles and responsibilities; targeting groups of potential foster parents; developing recruitment strategies; conducting initial and in-depth screening; and using screening information to assess foster parent training needs. Part II presents a foster parent training course, and suggests guidelines for working with adults in groups (role play, visual aids, discussion techniques).
