This profile of entering freshmen at North Carolina State University for fall 1977 presents statistical data and a descriptive summary of the data. Information is presented on the following: new freshman headcount enrollment by field of study by sex (1971-77) and by residence (in-state, national, or international); new freshmen black enrollment (1974-77); mean CHSR, SATV, SATM, and UPGA by field of study and sex (1973-77); educational level achieved by father; type of area in which freshmen lived during high school; reasons for enrolling at the college; educational goals; political views; preferred on-campus housing arrangements; opinions on campus issues; decision about major and/or career; and proportion of new freshmen needing assistance in selected areas.
