Development of State Plan for Career Education in Alabama. Final Report.

This state plan for career education in Alabama describes the first-year objectives and operational procedures of the State Advisory Council for Career Education. Activities of the following six task forces are reported: (1) needs assessment for grades K-12, (2) postsecondary needs assessment, (3) noneducational (business and industry) needs assessment; (4) public relations, (5) budget, and (6) resource identification. Most of this document reports the results collected by six needs assessment instruments which were used to survey grades K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, parents and administrators and teachers. Overall results are summarized; in addition, detailed data are provided for each instrument. A Gantt chart outlines the one-year goals which were achieved, and the five-year goals are enumerated. Evaluation plans, dissemination activities, special activities, and anticipated changes and/or problems are briefly described. Appended materials include the needs assessment instruments, minutes of the meetings, and related correspondence. (BM)
