Disadvantaged Student Grant Program for Illinois Public Community Colleges, Fiscal Year 1978--Fiscal Year 1979.
Harris, Toni C.
Thirty-eight public community college districts in Illinois have Disadvantaged Student Grant Programs operating on 50 individual campuses. State funds are appropriated annually to the Illinois Community College Board for distribution to the districts. The colleges are required, by contract, to provide a local matching effort at least equal to the state funds received. Part I of this report contains selected anecdotal accounts of unique, exemplary achievements of persons or groups served by the Disadvantaged Student Grant Program. Part II includes data tables on funding for 1978; comparisons of funding for 1977 and 1978; numbers of students involved by racial/ethnic origin, sex, and age; and types of program activities provided by the grant. Part III contains narrative reports, by district, as submitted by the director or dean responsible for the programs regarding the kinds of activities provided, client groups served, and nature of the outcomes. These reports also include information on amount of state and local funds budgeted, contact persons, number of persons served, and total contact hours. Part IV takes a look at FY79 and the future direction of serving the disadvantaged adult students. (Author/MB)
