Job Hunting for the College Graduate.
Erdlen, John D.; Sweet, Donald H.
The new or soon-to-be college graduate is provided in this book with the basic facts of the employment process and the system within which this process operates. A master plan is presented for effective representation of self on paper, during the interview, when deciding upon a job offer, and on the job. Guidelines are established for self-analysis to aid in determining career goals, and information is presented about where the jobs are. Concrete examples of the necessary written material--such as resumes, interview forms, and data sheets--are included. Different types of interviews are discussed, from the perspective both of the interviewee and the interviewer, and reference points for determining which offer finally to accept are offered. Through a question-and-answer format, information is presented on the most common and pertinent questions that professionals who work with job seekers are asked. Exhibits include: typical rejection letter, job qualifications form, biographical resume, functional or results-oriented resume, letter resume, personal data sheet, sample interview schedule, response letter to help-wanted advertisement, sample help-wanted advertisements (open and blind), sample job-inquiry letter, interview rating form, offer letters, position evaluation form, job appraisal form, and performance appraisal form.
