The goals and standards for pretrial release are designed to provide guidance and direction to those individuals working in the criminal justice system who are responsible for attempts at reduction of inequity and ambiguity in release and diversion practices. The materials in this collection deal with the following areas of concern: (1) due process and equal protection; (2) timing and procedures for pretrial release; (3) personal recognizance; (4) establishment of restrictive conditions where necessary; (5) financial and personal responsibility of the releasee; (6) responsibilities of pretrial services agencies; and (7) confidentiality and program monitoring practices.
