The Preprofessional Program's objectives for increasing minority student participation in the health sciences are outlined in this report. Steps taken by the program to meet each of the objectives are briefly described. Data collected during the last year of the program are presented for such areas as class composition, students' career interests, and student achievement. In addition, findings concerned with student evaluations for the entire program period are summarized. A listing of conclusions dealing with the program's successes, failures, and participating students' attitudes is provided. Recommendations are made for selecting students, decreasing dropout rates, and improving the program's effectiveness through tutorial assistance, counseling sessions, special programs, and an increase in minority role models. Appended is a report on the second year of one of the program's course offerings, Physics 101b-103b. (EB)
