Financial Aid for the Part-Time and Returning-Adult Student. Federal, State and Capital Area Sources of Assistance.
Hoyt, Douglas H.
The existing sources of financial aid for the part-time and returning-adult student are described. Information is consolidated on the chief federal, state, and local government sources; community organization resources; and area educational institutional sources. The section on government programs gives detailed information about scholarships, grants, loans, work-study and/or manpower training programs available to the part-time student. The descriptions of the federal programs and the New York State programs concern program information, award data, eligibility requirements, and application information. County aid programs for part-time students under the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act of 1973 (CETA) are listed for seven areas in New York. Financial aid programs available at specific New York colleges and universities and other educational institution programs are listed, and diverse organizations that offer financial aid to the part-time and/or returning-adult student are included. For each community organization, the contact person, amount and number of awards, requirements, and the application deadline are indicated. A quick checklist for finding funding, sources of information about financial aid, and an alphabetical list of programs, kinds of aid, and institutions and organizations are provided. (SW)
