The paper reports the final evaluation of a program for approximately 143 learning disabled (LD) students (grades 6-to-12) from six school districts. A number of test instruments were used to evaluate student progress during the program, including the Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT), the Durrell Analysis of Reading Difficulty, and the Piers-Harris Self Concept Scale. Among findings were that five of the six classrooms tested showed significant improvement in all three achievement areas of the WRAT, with the gains being 1 1/2 times that expected from the previous learning history of the students. The Piers-Harris Self Concept Scale revealed that the program produced a reliable enhancement of self-concept of 6.19 percentile points. The Durrell Test confirmed the WRAT with overall gains of 35% over that expected.
