On February 8 and 20, 1978, the United States Senate Subcommittee on Child and Human Development heard testimony regarding child care and child development programs which would provide background information to committee members examining how best to shape future federal legislation involving child care and child development. Testimony and prepared statements were presented on several aspects of child care, including operational and health policies, costs of child care, scope of services, and delivery systems. Testimony was heard from parents, child care providers, program directors and others concerned with the welfare of children. Articles, other publications, communications and responses to child care questions posed by Senator Alan Cranston were added to the record.
