Massachusetts Library Automation Survey: A Directory of Automated Operations in Massachusetts Libraries.
Stephens, Eileen; Nijenberg, Caroline
This directory is designed to provide information on automated systems and/or equipment used in libraries to provide a tool for planning future automation in the context of interlibrary cooperation considerations, and to inform the library and information community of the state of the art of automation in Massachusetts libraries. The main body is arranged in alphabetical order by library name. Information in each entry includes address; identification of automated functions; description of its development, data bases, vendors, equipment, programming languages, service to outside clientele, and associated charges. Additional information includes any studies or publications describing the operation, and the contact person. Separate lists are provided for academic, public, and special libraries, as well as an alphabetical list of all libraries participating in the survey. Libraries with automation in specific areas--acquisitions, cataloging, circulation, interlibrary loan, serials operations, and reference--and libraries performing data base searches for outside clientele are also listed.
