The Alabama Student Assistance Program, a state/federal cooperative aid program to provide financial assistance to residents of the State of Alabama for undergraduate postsecondary education at institutions within the State of Alabama, is described in this annual report for the 1977-78 academic year. A total of 15,710 applications for aid were submitted in l977 and 2,453 grants were awarded, and $272,930 in Federal State Student Incentive Grant Program Funds were matched on a one-to-one basis, for a total grant expenditure of $545,860. Eligibility requirements for applicants and a classification of applicants for 1977-78 is provided. Grant applicant and recipient distribution are described by geographic location, family income, type of institution, and participating institutions. Tables are provided for each category.(BH)
