Experience Based Career Education for Mildly Mentally Disabled. Resource Person's Guide.
Lewis, Marvin; Forbes, Sherri
This guide is designed for people in the community who volunteer their time and work places for experience-based career education programs for mildly mentally disabled secondary students. The first section provides explanations of experience-based learning, resource persons, community explorations, student projects, and task analysis. The second section provides a brief checklist to be used for planning time with students. The third section discusses student expectations of resource persons, suggestions for what to say, and hints for being an effective resource person. The next section discusses a resource person's role in evaluating student learning and describes what four students gained from a community experience. Also provided is an interview with an experienced resource person. The concluding part contains questions and answers relating to resource persons (e.g., student behavior problems, child labor laws, and liability). (Other program guides are Student Career Guide [CE 019 715], Formative Evaluation Plan [CE 019 716], Experience Site Learning Guides [CE 019 717], Student Program Guide [CE 019 718], and Learning Coordinator Guide [CE 019 720].
