Designed for teachers and counselors, this professional manual provides detailed information for utilizing access materials and setting up the Career Information System (CIS) component of the Career Decision-Making (CDM) program developed by Appalachia Educational Laboratory. (See CE 019 229 for a description of the total CDM program.) The first section of this manual provides an overview of the CIS component. The second section contains detailed instructions for installing and maintaining the CIS in a variety of settings. (A companion document, CE 019 234, contains a file content notebook utilized in the installation of the CIS component.) This section also contains three attachments: materials and equipment list; career area-worker trait group list; and worker trait group index to commercial briefs. Finally, the third section provides utilization guides for the following CIS materials: (1) Individualized Activities for Career Exploration; (2) Work Activities Checklist; (3) Work Situations Checklist; (4) Aptitudes Checklist (CE 019 235); (5) School Subject-Worker Trait Group Chart and School Subject-Occupation Index (CE 019 240); and (6) Worker Trait Group Keysort Deck (CE 019 236).
