Kruppa, J. Russell; And Others
This report describes a project the assignment of which was (1) to clarify the needs for baccalaureate programs through which industrial education teachers could be prepared to teach handicapped and disadvantaged children and (2) to develop a model from which appropriate curricula could be developed. In chapter 1 the project background is discussed and terms relevant to this area are described. In chapter 2 the need for preservice programs is explained. This section discusses the need for dual purpose curriculum based upon literature and special meetings and as reflected by a national survey. Chapter 3 contains the types and characteristics of secondary level programs. These include secondary level special needs programs and industrial education for special needs students. Chapter 5 presents the curriculum model which is patterned around the Standards of the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification. Also included are competency lists needed for general education, professional education, and major fields of specialization.
