Inservice Education Programs; Current and Predicted as Viewed by Selected Principals and Superintendents.
Berry, Charles A.
Two sets of administrators (principals and superintendents) were asked if selected inservice education programs were being implemented currently in the respondents' schools and school systems and, secondly, what their perceptions were of the need for selected inservice education programs in the next five years. The study requested responses of a priority ranking to the need for each of 26 inservice education programs during the next five years. An indication of which of the 26 programs was currently being offered in a school or school system was also requested. Responses of the principals showed a greater frequency for those programs mandated by law as well as some of those which represented the concerns of the public. Both principals and superintendents anticipated a need to continue the current programs and placed low priority on programs that would focus on greater personal-social-career development of pupils.
