This study is the first of a five phase program of the American Association of School Administrators directed toward reducing energy consumption in existing schools. This report summarizes the results of the field investigations, computer simulation and evaluations of the energy conserving opportunities available in the Scott Elementary School in Warwick, Rhode Island. The contents of this report present: (1) a building description; (2) data collection and computer simulation efforts; (3) description of energy conservation opportunities indicated by the data and simulation; and (4) economic evaluation of recommended energy conservation measures. This study focuses on cost effective energy conservation measures for this school but the procedures described may be applied widely. (MR)
