Schmidt, William H.; And Others
A taxonomy for the classification of fourth-grade mathematics content including tests, workbooks, textbooks, handouts, worksheets, and classroom instruction is presented. Three factors are used to define the taxonomy: mode of presentation, with three levels; nature of the materials, with thirteen levels; and operation, with twelve levels. The definitions of the levels of each factor are given as well as conventions used in conjunction with each factor and examples for each level. Sample test questions are classified and the classification explained. A set of practice items and a key are also presented. (MP)
