The preparation of professional personnel for positions of administration in higher education institutions and agencies is discussed in this lecture. The skills and competencies required of executives in higher education (including intellectual curiosity and leadership) are identified and administration curriculum content (education for an ecological world view) is suggested. Also included are three formal responses to the address by John E. Corbally, president, University of Illinois; James M. Furman, executive director, Illinois Board of Higher Education; and J. Myron Atkin, dean, College of Education, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Questions from the audience and the responses and comments of the lecture participants are presented following the formal response by Dr. Corbally. (BD)
