The instructor-free, empirically-based training package focuses on planning for a program or total agency for severely handicapped, developmentally disabled persons and is intended to assist agencies develop a participatory management system for ongoing program planning and evaluation within the trainee's agency. The package consists of a trainee workbook which includes basic information on program planning and evaluation, individual practice sessions, and group exercises. The following 10 training sessions are outlined: competency generalization through instructor-free training; an ideology for human services; a survey of management theory and style; a conceptual model for program planning and evaluation; guidelines for effective decision making and strategy implementation; budgeting; evaluation: an integral part of program planning; funding and grantsmanship; synthesizing and using your training; a model for community planning.
