Alcohol Education: Curriculum Guide for Grades K-6.
New York State Education Dept., Albany. Bureau of Drug Education.
This alcohol curriculum guide was designed to assist school personnel to more effectively combat the alcohol problem through education as a primary prevention vehicle. "Practice experiences" comprise the most important components of the elementary health education curriculum for decision making. There are units with separate sections at each grade level which identify the topics and the objectives, and list the suggested learning experiences. These sections serve as guidelines to school districts in developing their own programs designed to meet their own special interests and needs. At the K-3 level topics include health habits, body care, chemical and nutritional values of food. At grade levels 4-6, topics focus of the nature of alcohol, factors influencing its use, alcohol effects, responsibility and treatment. Also included are topic outlines for the two levels. (BN)
