Preparing Teenagers for Parenthood. Final Report.
An Education for Parenthood demonstration project coordinated by the National Federation of Settlements and Neighborhood Centers is described. Individual summaries are given for each of the five sites selected to implement the Preparing Teenagers for Parenthood (PTP) program. The list of primary program objectives contains both psychosocial/behavioral and informational goals. Also included is a description of the group formation process, including some underlying group goals; an outline of the basic program curriculum; and a list of resources. A stated conclusion is that the PTP approach enables teenagers to develop a base of factual knowledge from which they can make intelligent choices having significant impact on their lives, and that this is eventually reflected in their parent or nonparent roles.
