A New Approach to Psychometric Problems in the Analysis of Pre-Numeric Data. Didakometry. No. 55.
ANACONDA, a computer-based system for analysis of verbal content by data processing is presented as a scientifically more satisfactory substitute for classical content analysis. This system was applied to 40 behavioral science researchers who were interviewed regarding their channels of information for concept formation, problem discussion, research methodology, and documentation. Researchers' statements were analyzed into a noun-verb noun relationship representing agent, action, and object. The treatment of the researchers' verbal statements by ANACONDA involved an analysis and synthesis of both empirical statements and the relationships between them. These statements were then studied by a discriminant analysis. Finally, an attempt was made to demonstrate the validity of this methodological approach. (Author/CP)
