Continuation of the Illinois Multifarious, Student-Based Management-Oriented Information Project. Final Report.

Reported here is the completed phase 2 of a program designed to develop a comprehensive integrated system that will produce information for planning and administrating Illinois vocational education programs. Phase 2 project activities were intended to further develop and refine the Illinois Vocational Management Information System (MIS) and to develop three integral MIS components: (1) cost analysis, (2) follow-up, and (3) teacher supply/demand. The cost component was developed to provide local school administrators with a tool for analyzing the total cost of various educational programs being offered in their districts. The follow-up component was created to provide vocational education administrators and/or agencies at the local and state level with an automated system to obtain student follow-up information. The teacher component was designed to store data relating to teachers, counselors, and administrators in vocational education and students enrolled in and graduated from Illinois vocational education teacher training programs. In addition to completing the system's design and programming work, documentation and user materials were developed. Ten field-test school districts were involved in data collection and reporting activities. (A report of phase 1 is available separately--see note.) (CSS)
