Described is an inservice training program for early childhood special education teachers who work with non-categorical or integrated (handicapped and nonhandicapped) groups of preschool children. Chapter 1 presents an overview of the project. Chapter 2 reviews the content and structure of the curriculum framework and presents a cognitively oriented curriculum model, while the third chapter discusses the teacher training model developed by the project. The multimedia training modules or learning packages are described in chapter 4, which also lists the audiovisual materials and outlines the contents of the trainer's manual and teacher's manual. The field sites where field testing of the training system occurred are summarized in chapter 5, along with some of the issues involved in disseminating a curriculum model. Evaluation procedures are results utilized in developing the training materials are described in chapter 6. Chapter 7 addresses the process by which program consultants were trained to serve as links in the training model. The final chapter looks ahead to plan for wider use of the training system and materials developed by the project. (Author/BD)
