Teaching Values Through the Use of Books.
Pitts, Ben E.; York, Rhonda
Developing a strong set of moral values in the adolescent student through school curriculum and other contacts is discussed. The physical and emotional characteristics of the adolescent from the age of 13 through 16 are outlined, and typical behaviors in home and school for each age are described. The focus of this discussion is upon developing honesty and a sense of responsibility in young people at this stage of development. Specific books suitable to the different ages are suggested as helpful in augmenting the goals of the teacher in clarifying a moral viewpoint toward real life situations. (JD)
