Articulating Vocational Education at the Post-Secondary Level: Papers from the AACJC/AVA Joint Study.
Bushnell, David; And Others
In the first of five papers from the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges and the American Vocational Association joint study on vocational education articulation, David Bushnell describes the study as a whole, and its methods of identifying exemplary programs. William Fedderson and William Loch outline the articulation program at Williamsport (Pennsylvania) Area Community College, which serves a largely rural area. Program success is attributed to the cooperation and coordination between faculties of secondary and post-secondary vocational programs, and strong administrative leadership. Jan Nugent describes five facets of the Milwaukee Area Technical College program: internal articulation, articulation with other institutions, advisory committees, attention to urban mission, and short-term industrial training programs. Kenneth Smith reviews articulation between the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Hamilton-Fulton and Montgomery Counties (New York) and Fulton-Montgomery Community College which involved cooperative data processing, an enrichment center, graduate studies program, technical programs, and adult education. Margot Eddy describes suburban Bellevue (Washington) Community College's cooperation with 10 public school districts, two vocational-technical institutes, and three community colleges. (MB)
