Assessment of the Socio-Psychological Attitudes of Incarcerated Delinquent Adolescent Males.
Tidwell, Romeria; Berry, Gordon L.
Attitudes held by incarcerated youthful offenders are identified as they relate to friends and social relationships, relationships to communities and their agents of authority, club and gang participation, work and leisure time activities, family relationships and responsibilities, and educational and school goals. The investigation served as a first step by counselor-researchers toward better understanding how to prepare counselor-trainees to work with potential delinquents, or those who reside in communities and attend schools where crimes flourish. A three-part questionnaire, administered to 70 subjects detained in a probation camp setting, found attitudinal trends for the total group and the three racial groups. (Author)
