Annotated Bibliography of Literature Related to Adult Problem Solving (Preliminary Edition.) Final Report.
Cantwell, Zita M.
This report includes a systematized annotated bibliography, arranged alphabetically by author, based on a search and critical analysis of the theoretical, descriptive, and research literature concerning adult problem solving. Each annotation provides bibliographic information plus a nonevaluative summary of the contents of the item. In addition, each annotation is coded by category to topics related to problem solving. A summary section itemizes significant points drawn from the literature analysis under the following major topic categories: (1) problem solving models and specific applications; (2) personal correlates of problem solving, i.e., motivational, aptitude, and personal traits; (3) environmental correlates of problem solving, i.e., cultural, economic and geographic, and societal; (4) evaluation of problem solving, i.e., diagnostic, aptitude, and ability measurement; measurement of problem solving and its components; measurement of personal and environmental factors affecting problem solving; and (5) materials for developing problem solving skills and strategies. The annotations are listed by number under topic categories. An appendix on selected problem solving materials is included. (Author/CSS)
