These technical appendices give the following information: a comparison of RENP and non-RENP mean Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS) Fall 1976 pretest scores; evidence of the existence of an achievement gap between Washington, D.C. and large city norms; number and percentages of students in each of three pretest achievement levels; prescriptive reading and mathematics test score results for Fall 1976 and Spring 1977; results of output from split-plot analysis of covariance; analyses using a chi-square approach to compare the number of RENP and non-RENP students and their patterns of gains and losses from Fall 1976 to Spring 1977; description of gains/losses obtained on the RENP program for each grade; means and standard deviations for pre and post test raw scores and reading and mathematics total scores by grade and achievement level for RENP, non-RENP, and total samples; teacher classroom observation and interview instruments; definition of variables describing classroom activities, materials, and interactions; results of the analysis of variance of teacher observation data; means and standard deviations of variables describing classroom activities, materials, and interactions by grade for RENP, non-RENP, and total samples; and cost methodology of RENP.
