Field Experiences in Preservice Teacher Education. Bibliographies on Educational Topics No. 9.
Elliott, Peggy G.
Concerned with the growing attention to providing more, earlier, and better field experiences for students in preservice education programs, this publication supplies both introductory notes and an annotated bibliography as a resource and point of departure for researchers and teachers. The introductory notes provide: (1) a definition of preservice teacher preparation field experience; (2) a background of the field experience component from the Middle Ages to the present; (3) reasons for present emphasis on field experience programs; and (4) notes on existing research and literature, criteria for bibliographic entries, and other available resources. The literature, including citations from 1968 to 1977, was selected from two files contained in the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) data base: Resources in Education (RIE) and Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE).
