The paper describes the provision of special education programs throughout Metropolitan Toronto in the areas of hearing, vision, aphasia, orthopedic and other health related disabilities, the trainable retarded, and programs in hospitals and institutions. The author explains how these programs are provided by one area board of education on behalf of the other area boards and are available free of charge to any of the 356,000 students upon the recommendation of an Admission Board and the consent of the parents. Briefly dealt with are the cooperative way these programs are monitored and plans for the future. (Author/SBH)
