Clusters 7, 8 & 9: Interdisciplinary Development of Environmental Activities and Sources. Preliminary Edition.
Dixon, Eddie R.; And Others
Polk County's environmental education program was integrated into the existing curriculum, K-12, by employing an interdisciplinary approach coordinating the various disciplines. Emphasis is placed on the following phases of environmental education at the designated grade levels: (1) primary - awareness, (2) intermediate - concern and information, (3) secondary and adults - continue exploration with involvement or action. Materials are divided into grade levels known as "clusters." Each cluster is organized into "conceptual themes." The conceptual themes are subdivided into generalizations called "Mini-Paks." Each Mini-Pak consists of student/teacher materials dubbed "IDEAS" - Interdisciplinary Development of Environmental Activities and Sources. The activities in this guide are suited to the older group of junior high students. (Author/RH)
