Written as a guide to be used in the admission and placement of Algerian students in U.S. institutions of higher education, this study discusses the educational system of Algeria. The organization of Algerian education is summarized. Information is provided on preschool and primary education, middle school education, secondary education, non-baccalaureate secondary level education; technological institutes, tertiary education, and graduate and professional education. General considerations for admissions such as standards, English language proficiency, and required documents are examined, followed by recommendations for placement of students in primary schools, adult education programs, middle schools, secondary schools, tertiary education institutions, and graduate and professional education institutions.
