Managing Inappropriate Behaviors in the Classroom.
Lovitt, Thomas C.
The booklet provides information on a number of strategies for teachers to use in managing disruptive behaviors in the classroom. In the first section several approaches (such as token economies) are discussed that pertain to the general, comprehensive management of classes. Included in Section II are several strategies (including taking away something to attenuate behavior) that may be used with individuals who display inappropriate behaviors. A final section contains information on three approaches to group management: individual consequences contingent on individuals, group consequence contingent on individuals, and group consequence contingent on the group. A final section offers six considerations (such as defining principles by function and reviewing a variety of techniques) in the management of disruptive behaviors. (SBH)
