Women, Minorities, and Employment Discrimination.
Wallace, Phyllis A., Ed.; LaMond, Annette M., Ed.
The papers in this book were prepared for research workshops on equal employment opportunity that were held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology during 1974. Economists, psychologists and sociologists were invited to assess the scope of research to date on employment discrimination. Their paper topics include: (1) economic theories of employment discrimination; (2) the role of worker expectancies in the study of employment discrimination; (3) research needs in psychology on the participation of women in the labor force; (4) research needs on discrimination in employment and wages; (5) black employment in the southern United States; (6) a model of processes, structural relations, and econometric problems in a segmented labor market; (7) differences in expected post school investment as a determinant of market wage differentials; and (8) a dynamic theory of racial income differences. Recommendations which arose from the research workshops on equal opportunity are also reviewed. (Author/GC)
