Youth Employment Money: Designing Your Local Program.
Schneider, Debra; And Others
This is a handbook designed for educators, manpower planners, and other officials interested in taking advantage of new legislation for creating youth employment programs. In the first part of the book major provisions of the Youth Employment and Demonstration Projects Act of 1977 are explained. Good planning is stressed as crucial to the success of all new programs, and planning processes are discussed in relation to legislative provisions. Funding possibilities and possible linkages with community agencies are suggested. Program implementation and evaluation methods are briefly considered. In the second part of the handbook suggestions for the structure of youth employment projects are offered in relation to the 1977 act. Some examples of actual innovative programs are reviewed, and several model program proposals are presented. Appended to the volume are a breakdown on national funding under the act, a list of anticipated proposal and program deadlines, and the text of the act. (Author/GC)
