Setting the Course for Clean Water: A Citizen's Guide to the Section 208 Water Quality Management Program.

This is a citizen's guide to the section 208 water quality management program. Section 208 refers to that section of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act of 1972 (the Clean Water Act) which calls for public participation in water quality management planning. Included in this guide are chapters on controlling pollution through the Clean Water Act, important requirements of section 208 water quality management planning, and programs to prevent pollution. Throughout the guide are provided technical and legal information on various issues related to water quality such as waste disposal, mining activities, septic tanks, and agricultural activities. Also included are lists of suggested citizen activities related to each issue. (BB)
