A summary of the ecological guidelines for development in tropical forests of Southeast Asia is presented. Although the great diversity of the flora of these tropical forests make them great reservoirs of genetic capital, this summary focuses on the fauna of the region. In this publication, the program for Southeast Asia is divided into 10 sub-programs corresponding to 10 geographic areas of the region. Each sub-program describes the problems of each area and presents efforts to solve the problems. Also, projects or programs needed to protect or maintain wildlife are suggested and described. In general, many of these proposed projects or programs call for surveys of existing facilities, lands, or resources. Also included are news from members, comments, and IUCN books sections. (MR)
