Based on data from a questionnaire mailed to about 235 identifiable Chicano media sources from February through May 1976, this directory presents the name and address of each media group; name of organization, if applicable; how long they have been in existence; their publication's focus, language and frequency; and subscription rates. The 190 entries were classified according to research centers, publishers, distributors/booksellers, journals/magazines, newsletters, pinto newsletters (unbound publications printed on a regular or irregular basis as information sources for prison inmates), newspapers (in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas/Arizona, and Midwest/East), film producers/distributors, and films. A listing of 175 inactive media groups is also included. About two-thirds of all the inactive entries are for media that has been inactive for more than two years. (NQ)
