Functions of Cities. Student Text and Student Workbook.
Jones, F. Geoffrey
A student text and student workbook on the economic base and functions of cities comprise a self-paced unit for intermediate grade level students of geography. The text discusses the meaning of economic base and function, and categorizes eight cities for further study in succeeding chapters--Durban, Frankfurt, Pittsburgh, Brasilia, Surfers Paradise, Benares, Mexico, and Tokyo. A glossary of terms concludes the text. The workbook follows the text, chapter by chapter, with eight activity sections that inquire into the student's mastery of the text material. The student is instructed at the beginning of each chapter to log in his time, read the text chapter, answer the activity sections, check answers against those in the Student Activity Answer Sheet at the back of the book, review the text in the case of incorrect answers, proceed to the Review Test, and check the test. If a student answers 17 out of 20 questions correctly he is to proceed to the next chapter; if not, he is to review pertinent sections and activities and take the second Review Test. (JH)
