The 1970 annual evaluation of Title I (Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965) State Migrant Program in Kansas is presented in this report. The program, located in 10 school districts, was in operation for 6 weeks during the summer; in 1 district the program continued for 8 weeks. The program involved 1,174 children from preschool to the 11th grade, with the majority of the migrant children being in preschool to the 4th grade. Program objectives were (1) to improve the child's performance in the use of language and oral communication, (2) to improve the children's health, and (3) to give the children cultural enrichment experiences. The tests used were teacher developed to measure the child's progress in a particular subject or activity, especially reading, mathematics, social studies, and science. The program was evaluated in terms of its innovative projects, teacher-pupil ratio, effectiveness, the personnel. Some other topics discussed include community involvement, the program's interrelationship with the regular Title I program and its coordination with other programs, special vocational and handicapped areas, and supportive services.
