Information included in this guide is intended for supplementary use with "Concepts in Science" series textbooks. Organized into six levels, one through six, each level is designed to emphasize the ecological concepts developed in the text. A contents chart cross-indexes the materials according to units and conceptual schemes dealing with environmental education. Each level has four components. Investigations/Activities are developed to be carried out in or near the classroom and are identified according to the concepts they reinforce and the units with which they correlate. Materials needed, teacher directions, and data sheets are also listed. Suggested Field Trip Activities are intended to reinforce the concepts developed in the text. Visual Aids are correlated to the text and are useful in clarifying and extending the understanding of the ecological concepts of the indicated unit. The Appendix lists places suitable for emphasizing ecological concepts, a checklist for field trips, periodicals, and a physical description of audiovisual aids. (BL)
