American Freedom from Hunger Foundation, Washington, DC.
A variety of informational materials is compiled in this issue packet concentrating on population and development. The materials have been assembled to understand the issues associated with the facts of the world's population and to try to invent new forms of action and thought necessary to find the possibilities hidden in the population issue. Items include: (1) a fact and situation sheet, (2) two essays, "Population and Resources: The Coming Collision" which discusses the global consumption of minerals, food, and fuels together with disparities between rich and poor nations, and "Man's Population Predicament" which interprets the origins of the population explosion, the present state of affairs, and offers three models to balance future populations, (3) an address by Robert NcNamara, President, World Bank Group, about basic problems of development: nutrition, employment, income distribution, and trade, (4) a New York Times Supplement (April 30, 1972), "Population: the U.S. Problem, the World Crisis" (SE 014 144), (5) "The Crisis," a selection of short reprints about the population crisis and explosion, overpopulation, and zero population, (6) an analysis of the sociological implications of population control, "Family Planning is Inherently Genocidal: True-False," (7) a 1971 world population data sheet, and (8) five pamphlets on population and development.
