Index to Black History and Studies; Multimedia.
University of Southern California, Los Angeles. National Information Center for Educational Media.
With current renewed interest in the black man's role and contributions in the settling and development of America, educational institutions and libraries have accelerated their efforts to institute courses of study and programs in the field. This index to black history and studies, retrieved from a computerized data base at the University of Southern California, provides access to information on nonbook media available on the curriculum area in the United States. It is divided into three principal areas: a subject guide to black history and studies, preceded by a subject heading outline and an index to subject headings; an alphabetical guide to black history and studies; and a directory of producers and distributors, including separate alphabetical listings by code and by name. In the subject guide, titles are filed under each heading by media, and information is provided describing audience level and distributor. Information offered for each title listed in the alphabetical guide includes a physical description, a description of the contents, audience or grade level, producer or distributor, year of release, broadcast quality, and series title when applicable.
